We like to think of September as Summer 2.0; the weather is great, the crowds shrink and the events carry on with a vengeance. Here’s a sampling of our favorite September events.
Paint and Unwined: An Art Class

Activity Center at Plantation Resort
Activity Center, $30 per person. Paint and Unwined comes from Murrels Inlet to teach at our resort! Join us as a professional artist assists you in creating your own painted masterpiece. Feel free to bring your own snacks beer or wine to add to the fun while you paint! Check our Facebook page or inquire at the Indoor Pool for our painting of the month. Coastal Uncorked Food and Wine Festival
Broadway at the Beach
Beginning in 2009, Coastal Uncorked has enjoyed treating visitors and locals to the best in food, wine, spirits, arts and entertainment. Coastal Uncorked aims to shine a light on all that makes the culinary scene along the Grand Strand unique. With more restaurants per capita than any other city in the state, Myrtle Beach is home to more than 1,700 dining establishments. Come enjoy some of what the best restaurants have to offer.

Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival
September 2 & 3
Horry-Georgetown Technical College Conference Center on the Grand Strand campus
Sample BBQ on Saturday from 12-3 pm from local and regional teams as they compete in South Carolina’s Official BBQ Competition. $10 wristband for unlimited samples! Kids 8 and under sample free! Free, Live Entertainment both days. Arts & crafts exhibitors, food vendors, business promoters, beer & wine garden with lots of craft beer selections, kids activities and games (click here for details on the schedule).
This September, they pay tribute to two of the most celebrated names in recent music history, Billy Joel and Elton John! Produced by Blue Eyed Theatrical, it will be an evening to remember. The show will include popular songs from both of these talented composers and songwriters. Tickets are $30 for members and $35 for the general public. Seating is limited. Performances begin at 7:30 pm and are held under a tent
South Carolina Sea Grant Beach Sweep
One of the largest one-day volunteer clean-up events in South Carolina, this Beach Sweep is a great way to give back. The Ocean Conservancy uses the debris data to learn how to prevent pollution before it starts. Click here fore more information on where you can volunteer.
Aynor Harvest Hoe-Down Festival

The 37th Annual Aynor Harvest Hoe-Down Festival in Aynor, South Carolina includes hundreds of arts, crafts & food vendors, parade at 10 am, musical entertainment 11 am-6 pm, Street Dance 7 pm-10:00 pm, children’s entertainment.
St. John’s Greek Festival

St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church of Myrtle Beach
Celebrate all things Greek with this exciting cultural festival. The Greek Orthodox Church puts on an event to remember with dance performances, music and, of course, Greek Food!
Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival

Featuring more than 100 of the finest artisans, the Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival provides aesthetic beauty against a background of natural beauty. Enjoy fine art, quality crafts and food, along with the musical offerings of several of the area’s finest musicians.
Fall Bike Week

Harley lovers unite again this fall season all over Myrtle Beach. You’ll find lots of parties, events and specials lined up for bikers and enthusiasts. Check out their website here for a complete lineup.
Irish Italian International Festival
10 am-4 pm
Main Street, North Myrtle Beach
The City of North Myrtle Beach will host the 13th Annual Irish Italian International Festival on Saturday, September 24, 2016. This one day rain or shine event brings approximately 15,000 to celebrate different cultures. The festival begins at 10 am and continues until 4 pm on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach; featuring food from local restaurants, two stages of live entertainment, street performers, art & craft vendors, and dance groups all surrounding an Irish Italian International theme. Restaurants will compete for the title of Best Entrée, Best Decorated, and Best Dessert. Festival goers can also join in a friendly spaghetti eating competition!
Brew at the Zoo
5:30 – 8:30 pm
Lowcountry Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens
$40 general public $35 for members (space is limited)
Presented by The Friends of Brookgreen Gardens, ‘Brew at the Zoo’ is one of our most popular fund-raising events of the year. From 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., guests enjoy tastings of more than 30 regional and national craft beers, entertainment by Bullfrog and a signature tasting glass. The silent auction and drawings proceeds help fund new projects at the gardens. Food and wine are available for purchase.
Tickets are $40 per person for the general public ($35 for members) and space is limited. Tickets are non-refundable. Unused tickets will be considered a donation to Brookgreen Gardens. Sponsored in part by brookgreen.org.
