Dad’s special day is coming up Sunday, June 18, and we’d like to help you out with some ways you can honor your dad during your stay here in Myrtle Beach for Father’s Day weekend. There are plenty of dad-friendly area activities to properly celebrate Father’s Day, and here are some of our favorites:
The Need for Speed:
Shift into high gear this Father’s Day weekend at the Myrtle Beach Speedway, where they offer a full schedule of The NASCAR racing experience, pace car rides and ride-alongs. This is your chance to grab the wheel (or call shotgun) and hit this track – the same oval that some of the biggest names in NASCAR once drove, like Jeff Gordon and generations of the Pettys and Earnhardts. Plus, the Monster Truck Destruction Tour stops by June 16 and 17. For tickets and more info, visit www.myrtlebeachspeedway.com.
Get your hands on the wheel of one of the speed demon race cars at Broadway Grand Prix Family Race Park (across from Broadway at the Beach) in Myrtle Beach. If that wasn’t enough excitement, post-race, choose to take the plunge on the Skycoaster, play a round of mini golf or make a game (or two) of it at the arcade. For more info, visit http://broadwaygrandprix.com/.
Another route to take to get your adrenaline fix is at Wild Water & Wheels in Surfside Beach. It’s more than just a water park (although their Wild H2O Racer and Side Winder body slides are uber-fast!); you can also purchase a pass to race on the park’s go-kart slick tracks. Either way, you can’t lose (but you should let Dad win on his day). For more info and tickets, visit http://www.wild-water.com/.
Be a Good Sport:
Take Dad out to the ballgame, with tickets to watch the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the Class A Advanced Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, at TicketReturn.com Field (across from Broadway at the Beach). Our home team puts on a powerful performance of its own, but there’s also unique food concessions, inflatables and a beer garden, which means everyone’s happy. For more info and tickets, visit www.milb.com.
For bowling in the fast lane, try 710 Bowling in North Myrtle Beach, a bowling alley on a whole new level. Why? The ambiance is sleek and modern and the menu serves up creations far above the sub-standard bowling fare, with selections like the Blackened Prime Rib Quesadilla and Southern Mac & Cheese. Then there are the games beyond bowling, such as bocce, billiards, shuffleboard, foosball, darts and board games. Flat-screens are also mounted at every turn to catch the latest game. For more info, visit http://www.710bowling.com/.
Fishing for something more? Book an adventure aboard any of the slew of Offshore Fishing Charters available for hire around here, from Pawleys Island to Little River. The fish are plentiful in this part of the Atlantic, so reeling something in should be a snap.

Let our concierge help you find the perfect 18 for you, your ability and your budget. You can also warm up before the game on the putting green in front of the Activity Center at Plantation Resort.
Hit the Open Water:
For the coolest Dads out there, you’ll want to book some awesome time shredding it on the water at the new Shark Wake Park in Little River. No experience is required; you just need to bring your desire to learn how to wakeboard. The park features a five-tower full-size cable and two-tower cable system, gear rental, viewing deck and Shark Shack serving up snacks and beer. For more info and tickets, visit http://sharkwakepark.com/.
If you and dad want to hang 10, start by Learning How to Surf with any of the many area pro instructors based here on the coast. We suggest lessons from any of these schools and shops, which also provide paddleboarding and kayaking sessions:
If you’d rather rev an engine to travel across the water, Rent a Jet Ski and explore our waters at a faster pace, whether by sea or river, at any of the rental shops in the area; here are a few:
Take it to New Heights:
We’ll end on a high note…If Dad has no fear of heights, then take him into the treetops for a zip lining and rope climbing adventure at several adventure parks in the area:
