Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights. ~Pauline R. Kezer
As you drive from the Front Desk to the Resort entrance, you may not have realized that you’re driving through Deerfield Plantation – the community where Plantation Resort is located. This community stretches all the way from the Frontage Road to Highway 17 Bypass encompassing several neighborhoods in between. Plantation Resort has long played an active role in its community and is even named after it. There’s a lot going on here and you’ll notice some big changes in the neighborhood during your next visit to Plantation Resort.
Platt Boulevard Paved
Resort visitors enter the Deerfield Plantation community on Platt Boulevard while driving to Plantation Resort. Now you can enjoy a smooth pleasant ride to your condo on this freshly paved boulevard. This is such big news that we’ve dedicated an entire article to Platt Boulevard’s update, which you can read here.
Demolishing the Clubhouse
It’s the end of an era as we watch the Deer Track Golf Course Clubhouse come down after keeping watch over the fairways for 45 years. Built in 1974, the golf course was designed by J. Porter Gibson and Bob Toski. Visitors from all over enjoyed golfing here until the course closed its doors in 2006. Even after Deer Track’s closing, the Clubhouse stood as a monument to the booming hey-day of golf in Myrtle Beach. Now we watch as demolition begins on the Clubhouse. We’ll keep you up-to-date on any future new developments.
Landscaping the Traffic Circles
Continuing in the spirit of beautifying the drive into the Resort, we’ve landscaped the first traffic circle near the front desk. We’ve taken care of the second traffic circle (the one in front of the Clubhouse) for years and now it’s time for the first traffic circle to match on your drive to Plantation Resort.
Home Construction on the North and South Golf Courses
The South course has been sold to Beverly Homes and the North golf course has been sold and is being developed by D.R. Horton. You’ll notice a dramatic change in the scenery as you drive to Plantation Resort. The North course already has new homes constructed while the South course is still in the early land clearing stages. It will look very different than what you are used to seeing in the past.
